GIVE
US ONE DAY AND WE'LL IMPROVE YOUR DIVING!
"Quite simply, the more divers realize how they affect our reefs, the more understanding they'll have."
The GMAF Diver Awareness Program is a series of dives directed at improving each divers awareness of how they impact the reef AND the wide variety of marine life on Guam's reefs.
Floating Underwater? The one diving skill that we use every time we dive is continuously adjusting our buoyancy. But what we are really doing is trimming our ability to "float underwater". The benefits of being able to do this very well are immediate:
-Much better air consumption because we aren't working hard. Translation: less air used, more bottom time.
-Not getting the reef (or wreck) impact marks and bruises on us! This is a very different way of looking at it, but being able to get close to the reef without touching it means less damage to both the reef and our bodies.
What is the buoyancy course? The GMAF Buoyancy course is designed to improve your understanding of your gear, your ability to do some "in-flight trimming" regardless of your depth, and improve your diving.
The course combines both classroom overviews of personal buoyancy skills, a short course introduction on the beach, and then two dives where you do a series of buoyancy perfection "challenges" . Each skill on the dives are different and will show you how your buoyancy is affected by your dive gear, weight placement, body position, and breathing.
Who can attend the course? Any certified diver.
How much does it cost? The cost for the entire course is only $35.
Who can teach the course? Any PADI instructor who has the Peak Buoyancy certification teaching through Any PADI training facility. All we ask is that you use the materials and training equipment that we provide at no charge.
What does the foundation provide for the clinic? The foundation covers a considerable amount of the instructor costs for the course and supplies allo of the in water equipment used by the instructor.
How do you sign up for the clinic? Email us, or call the NEX Dive Center (564-6321, or MDA Piti at 472-6321 and tell them to sign you up
